From Igor’s diary:

My dearest Jelena,
I had to wait in Vladivostok for ten days. The raging pacific caused the delay. No ship could sail for America. My baggage is my trusty kinematograph, a newfangled phonograph, and stacks of paper so I can write you often. All is stowed securely on the Pushkin.
It is a unique feeling. When you read these line, God willing, I will be no stranger to the New World.
You ever-loving Igor
